The purpose of DuPont PV field analysis is to convincing investors, insurers, and stakeholders that PV modules can last 25-35 years is critical given the trend towards financial models that consider 10 years of merchant revenue once a PPA expires. Now, more than ever, it is imperative that the materials used in modules will be able to survive 30-35 years in all climates.


A highly developed field inspection and analysis program that tracks material degradation and effects on module performance. Inspections cover PV modules of different ages, with many different Bill of Materials (BoM), from different climates, different mounting configurations, and sites in North America, Europe, Asia and the Middle East.


Changing technology, pressure to cut costs, wide price swings and a number of other issues make solar module quality control as relevant as ever. Failures inherent to backsheets threaten the long-term performance, durability and return on investment of solar panels.


Materials are best assessed by looking at outdoor PV performance. We believe long-term outdoor exposure is the ultimate test for all module components, material quality and manufacturing quality.
