Taiwan aims to reach the goal with cumulative installed solar PV capacity of 6.5 GW by 2020 and 20GW by 2025. At the end of 2018, the nation’s cumulative capacity reached 2,618MW according the International Renewable Energy Agency. With rapid increase in numbers in both roof-top & ground mounted PV power plants which have an operational life of 25 years and will need to be maintained. The international solar industry has widely acknowledged the role played by quality operation & maintenance (O&M) services in ensuring the sustainable performance of solar power plants, which improves not only levelized cost of energy (LCOE) and but also impacts positively to the return on investment (ROI) for solar asset owners. How to deploy the O&M methodology which are suitable for roof-top & ground mounted PV plants in Taiwan will be essential to keeping solar energy sustainable. The case study of O&M field practice in oversea and domestic MW PV power plants and challenges in the future will be discussed.
