Topic:Key Technical Due Diligence Issues Observed for Solar PV Projects In Taiwan and Mitigation Measures

Taiwan established a favorable feed in tariff (FiT) for solar PV to promote the development and exploitation of renewable energy resources within the country. This has resulted in significant interest from both domestic and international developers to invest in the sector. Key technical challenges specific to Taiwan include land condition, complex permitting, engineering design codes, solar resource assessment and contractual terms (including performance guarantees and commissioning procedures). Mott MacDonald has accumulated experience as a technical advisor for solar PV projects in Taiwan, as well as other countries in the Asia Pacific region that share island geographical characteristics including Malaysia, Philippines, Indonesia and Japan. The main objective of this presentation is to highlight technical and tecno-commercial considerations for the development of solar PV projects in Taiwan, including lessons learnt regarding the key issues found and their mitigation measures to overcome these issues.
