Yali Jiang joined the solar team of Bloomberg New Energy Finance (BNEF) in May 2016. She covers the PV manufacturing sector and tracks the supply and manufacturing capacity, including price changes along the upstream value chain.

Before being an analyst, she had been with BNEF data research team for two years, tracking PV projects in China along with the manufacturing capacity by Chinese PV makers. Prior to BNEF, she worked for PV and battery manufacturer BYD since 2009. She has a Master’s degree in Business Management from the City University of Hong Kong.

Chinese authorities announced that they would restrict new solar installations in June, a move that prompted us to revise the country’s annual demand down by 19-21GW throughout 2018-2020, under our mid-scenario forecast. BNEF analyzed the wider impact of China’s policy change and whether other markets outside China will make up for the reduced demand, as well as how this will impact the module prices in near term -adding to the effect of continuous efforts from the PV supply chain manufacturers to further reduce costs, according to BNEF’s research on PV production efficiency.
